Today's Cool Product - 7Cups

Ever vented out to a friend who starts off advising and narrating his/her stories instead of hearing you out? I was guilty of this too. 7Cups can not only help you get support but also train you to be a better listener.

7Cups have trained listeners who can offer support by truly listening to you. You can volunteer to be a listener too after completing their training (I did it it). I could only volunteer for 10 sessions due to paucity of time but this experience helped me talk (and listen) to my friends better. 7Cups volunteer support community is great too.

Note: Some sessions on 7Cups needs support beyond just listening and responding thoughtfully. 7Cups offers SOS options for such cases.

Today's Interesting Read - The Ethics of AI

Generative AI has been all over the news last week and AI is easily among the most sought after technologies in today's world. Following our theme of the week in reading - Tech and Society, here's an article that talks about the other side of AI. How can AI adversely affect us if we are not careful.

This article covers examples such as:

• Bias in the training data of facial recognition, leading an innocent man behind the bars
• Youtube's recommendation algorithm enabling pedophiles to connect and share child porn in the comments sections of certain videos.
• Healthcare algorithm optimising for efficiency endangering the most needy patients.

If your products use AI algorithms, think twice about the edge cases and adverse effects it might cause. While this area is getting some attention off late, a lot has to be done to make AI more ethical, inclusive, and safe.
