Nurture your personal relationships with Clay

Hola!

While the theme of this week is to discover products that'll help you meet new people online, I am making an exception today. How many of your personal and professional connects you made in the last 10 years are you still in touch with? If this number is more than 25%, you're a rare breed. Kudos!

Nurturing relationships that matter is way more important (and difficult) than building new relationships. It's the same as any application - retention is harder than acquisition. Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin and other popular social media tools help a little but they still lack something. Today's product recommendation addresses just that.

Today's Cool Product -Clay

Spend the next two minutes browsing Clay's webpage. It's one of the best landing pages I have seen - clear positioning, carries the brand character in every word (thoughtfulness) and well-explained benefits (not features). Here's why I love Clay:

  • It integrates very well with your existing social media tools - Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Email, and Phone.
  • You can cadence or reminder to talk to people you wish not to lose touch with. Write notes to help remind you what you want to talk about.
  • Home feed shows you weekly highlights, people you are in touch with, what they've been upto, and how many moments you shared with them.

It's just the beginning for Clay and I expect it to get smarter with time and nudge me to send the right message to the right person at the right time. It has all the right elements to be your personal CRM.

Today's Great Read -No more boring apps

If you are a Product Manager or Designer, this article provides you a fresh take to think about design. Most digital designs around you look the same - to increase adoption by familiarity perhaps. That's not how it should be - great design feels magical.

I want us to collectively raise the bar for what we expect from our digital experiences. Life isn't just a series of problems to be solved but moments to be lived. As we find ourselves spending more and more of our time in the digital world—especially now—we should expect that world to inspire, surprise, and dare I say, even challenge us. We are lucky to be versed in a creative field where we can dream up magical things that can touch the lives of billons. Like other design fields, we should see the work of product design as more than a business optimizer but as a powerful vehicle for expressing ideas that can push culture forward.

Feeling inspired by these powerful words? Read the full article. It might just change the way you should think about product design.
